2022 Year to Come Tarot Reading

Welcome to your Year to Come Tarot Reading for 2022!

This reading, featuring the officially licensed Grateful Dead Tarot, draws 12 cards, one for each month of the year, moving in progression one to the next.  One final card reveals the central theme of this everlasting spoof.

Overall, the cards suggest that 2022 will be a year to focus on making changes and adjustments within our physical realities. Some destabilizations will occur to support the necessary upleveling of our relationship to the material world.  Many reversed cards, particularly in the first half of the year as the wheel descends show that we will be navigating this process with many unknowns and unconscious resistances, from both the dominant systems and from within our own psyches. As the wheel turns, we seem to get our bearings and find some collective traction. Things are looking up!

This is a year of transition and change, when we must take big leaps, collectively and personally, to reclaim our worth – from the inside out. What actions will you take to align yourself with a more abundant reality?

Take a moment and breathe in deep. Ready? Here we go!

January:

17 - The Fountain, Reversed

2022 begins on a challenging note. It’s as though we’ve been stumbling around in the dark, looking for some road, some sign to show us which way to go. We may question the legitimacy and validity of those who project themselves as external authorities over our lives and yet, we may not have a clear inner guiding system or map to follow as we find ourselves navigating an unknown road. This road is, of course, no simple highway. Your steps alone must make the choice to walk the path between dark and dawn to find your own inner source of light. Note the synchronicity that the Fountain card represents Aquarius which starts in January and also coordinates with the new paradigm – the Age of Aquarius that we are entering, suggesting this will be an important year for the overall transition.

February:

0 -The Storyteller, Reversed

February suggests that we are treading on unsteady ground. We may feel that we have become unanchored. Although the future holds an element of promise and hope, it feels faraway and overwhelming to attempt to conceptualize. We are in between worlds. The old has been released but the new has yet to be born. What is dream and what is reality? There is no way to know. The ending cannot be bought or sold; instead, we must learn to follow our hearts and let its light shine through the delusions that keep us in fear. Somehow, we must trust the uncertainty and let the story unfold.

March:

King of Bears

In March, the sun emerges, and we can get centered and clear. The King of Bears promises self-mastery and abundance if we are willing to do the work. He asks that we make a plan, sow a few seeds, draw a few tracks in the ground, and always remember that our worth is more than the results of our labor. The King asks us to be patient and steady in our efforts to build from the ground up. How can you take his advice?

April:

7 of Roses, Reversed

April gets us moving but which road is the one to choose? We are faced with many options, distractions and temptations. We have a taste of freedom now but with that comes a need to discern the path that is aligned for our highest potential. The tendency to be deceived is high so don’t make important decisions impulsively. Don’t let yourself be deceived by blackbirds singing on Bluebird Hill. Stay true to your center and to the wisdom you have gained. Remember the King’s advice.

May:

9 of Bolts, Reversed

The feeling of uncertainty and ungroundedness persists. Although we are working hard and making moves, we can also feel disconnected, as though we are standing on the moon. Some old wound or doubt is holding us back. The odds are good that we are clinging to something that no longer exists, to some version of safety or comfortability that cannot (and possibly never did) exist. However, the transition phase is nearing an end, so hang in there.

June:

Queen of Bears, Reversed

The arrival of the Queen of Bears reversed suggests we consider our limiting beliefs and patterns around the illusion of the material world. What is truly necessary for you to be fulfilled? It’s time to go deeper than the surface. We must turn inward and re-evaluate our most primal needs. At the most basic level, the Queen asks that we now realize that our self-worth and value is not dependent on our material successes. We may need to release attachments to certain tokens of material status.

July:

Six of Bears

Finally, a breakthrough month when we can begin to actualize our true worth in the world. We’ve learned some big lessons about scarcity and worth, about material and emotional wealth. Now, with our hearts opened and connected, we can engage with the universe through reciprocity. Abundance is the experience of being in flow. Remember, when you embody and embrace the whole world as yourself, then you have the whole world to give.

August:

9 - The Attic

As August rolls in, we are beginning to enjoy the power of self-contained wholeness. We are feeling strong in our centers, attuned to the inner light of the heart that allows us to feel free and connected, even in times of challenge. The light we struggled to find at the beginning of the year? We’ve found it within ourselves and now have a clear sense of which way is home.

September:

10 of Skulls, Reversed

Hearts open and ready, it’s time to release the old paradigm fully. All the cards are down, and we must now accept that which has been permanently lost or changed. A long cycle of trial and tribulation is ending, so although there will likely be overtones of grief and sorrow, ultimately, we are being set free. Yes, losses are difficult, but they are nevertheless a part of life. Nothing comes for free.

October:

8 of Bears, Reversed

October gives us a chance to recalibrate to a new normal, but we are still feeling blown around like dust, driven by the wind. This month we may find ourselves working in overdrive. Is this truly sustainable? Perhaps we are trying to compensate for what we have lost or maybe we are simply avoiding our deeper feelings of insecurity.  We never know what the weather might do but keep focusing on that star shining within.

November:

19 - The Sunflower

Finally, November gives us a taste of what we’ve been seeking. All the unexpected twists and turns have taught us true resilience and self-trust. The light that was once so impossible to see has now grown into a luminous force, offering us fulfillment and release from the stronghold of insecurity that has gripped us much of this year. We can finally relax and see a way out of the wilderness. Potentials can be realized.

December:

Knight of Roses

The year ends with a nice dose of sweetness, playfulness and passion. We’ve managed to find a steady foundation and now, we can let our hearts relax and just enjoy. The Knight of Roses reminds us that life is play and when we remember to stay connected to our hearts, anything is possible. Love and spiritual wisdom are beginning to bloom. Follow it but hold it lightly so that it doesn’t burn you up.

Theme of the Year to Come:

4 of Bolts

Overall, this is a year to focus on the actions that has the potential to lead to increased security and long term abundance. However, we must understand the difference between material wealth and true abundance. The fire of the Bolt meets the stabilizing energy of the number 4, asking us to ready ourselves for necessary changes and be willing to face our own essential truth.  Although this year may be transitional in many ways, we are now creating pathways to birth a new world paradigm. What part will you play? The shape it takes is yours to choose. What do you want to win? What might you lose? Don’t get caught in your head; this year requires that we focus on the development of self-worth that will be the ground upon which our many castles can be built. We are remembering how to trust in the security that only love can offer. We must root down if we are to rise up stronger than ever!

Have a great year and we look forward to seeing your card pulls and readings! Tag us @gratefuldeadtarot !!
